A little about me...
My name is Richard Brenkley (middle name James) and among other things I work in the field of Interaction Design, User Experience and Information Architecture. I started out in Graphic Design then went on a long detour before winding myself into a Web Design job at a small company in Yorkshire, England (that’s where I was born) and then on from there…
Over the last few years I’ve worked on a variety of projects from printed newsletters to online brochureware, marketing websites, rich media campaigns, information sites and full blown applications. I’ve coded HTML and CSS, developed in ColdFusion and SQL, built Content Management Systems and designed Database Schemas and Application Flow Diagrams. I’ve resized banners, sliced PNG and PSD files into web-optimized graphics, applied Layer Masks, Filters and Clipping Paths, spent hours waiting for Files to Transfer and gone half crazy calling Movie Clips to do something onLoad, onClick or on some other command.
I’ve written proposals, scoped budgets, updated time-lines and overseen production. I’ve written technical specifications and prepared wireframes, sitemaps, comps and application flow diagrams. I’ve take part in planning and strategy and made presentations at the boardroom level. In short I’ve done, well, quite a lot.
I’ve worked on some great projects in the past and had the opportunity to work with some amazing people – clients and colleagues alike. I currently work at Grip Limited as an Information Architect/User Experience Designer. For a more complete breakdown of my employment history check out my LinkedIn profile. I can also be found on Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr and probably show up in numerous other places too.
I have a passion for design and technology so doing what I do isn’t just a job. In my spare time I enjoy photography and making music. I’m also a father. My daughter was born in February 2000. It will always be easy to remember her age.
I have British and Canadian citizenship and currently live in the city of Toronto. I’m available for contract/freelance work so please feel free to get in touch by emailing:
